as she schmoozed backstage with Galliano

Cropped tweed jodhpurs were paired with skimpy lingerie tops and trenches in buttery maroon leather, and the models wore thigh-high riding boots with stiletto heels.
Leather ?the horsey material par excellence ?was seen everywhere, from little jackets with pinched waists and ample peplums to flippy skirts in punched leather so fine it looked like lace. Even a black strapless cocktail dress was made in vampy black leather.

Evening wear was whispy-light, a muted rainbow of feathery silks spun into delicately beaded empire waisted gowns and nighty dresses. Movie star Charlize Theron ?the face of Dior's "J'adore?perfume ?hailed the collection as "wonderful?as she schmoozed backstage with Galliano, Dior President Sidney Toledano and French billionaire and the head of Dior's parent company LVMH, Bernard Arnault, as a scrum of photographers and TV crews chomped at the bit outside.

Models in head-to-toe yeti suits picked their way around towering, quickly melting icebergs, sloshing through a puddle of Arctic melt in shaggy fake fur.
Call it climate change chic, Chanel style. Designer Karl Lagerfeld looked to global warming, turning the melting of the polar ice caps into fodder for Chanel's fall-winter 2010-11 ready-to-wear look.

China had a homecoming of appeal - partly

Hosoda, a Japanese-American doctor of family medicine, was recruited by Beijing United Family Hospital after that facility lost its only Japanese-speaking doctor. Her previous Sino exposure had been a trip to Shanghai, but China had a homecoming of appeal - partly because of family roots."My husband Rob was born in Hong Kong and his family was from Guangzhou," she says, though they emigrated to Canada when he was a year old. "And my mother lived in Tianjin for several years, working as a midwife."

Her husband's work had almost brought the family to China before. The couple was eager for their two children, age 4 and 8, to learn a second language, and Mandarin seemed more useful in today's world than their own languages, Japanese and Cantonese. It was a little hard to leave Seattle, she says, "because my sisters are there, my parents in Japan plan to retire there, and Rob's family is nearby in Vancouver."

So although the family's destiny may be back in the US, homecoming is in Beijing on a three-year contract and intent on making the most of it."When I came here for an interview in 2009, I was blown away," she says. "I knew Shanghai as a modern city, but my idea of Beijing was something out of the 1970s, I guess - all Mao outfits and bicycles."

journey did not come cheap either, with tuition fees alone

About 200 university students of 35 nationalities have just completed an international study programme on board the Scholar Ship, which docked at Hong Kong's Ocean Terminal over Christmas. Most of the Hong Kong students had to take a year off from their universities for the voyage. The journey did not come cheap either, with tuition fees alone costing more than US$20,000 and the academic credits gained onboard largely non-transferable to Hong Kong institutions.

But the homecoming students said the journey was well worth the price as they returned with a global vision and a heightened sense of accomplishment.
On her maiden voyage, the Scholar Ship took 22-year-old George Payne to places he had never dreamed of visiting. The students' journey began last September in Greece, from where they sailed to seven other countries. They made stops in Portugal, Panama, Ecuador.

Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Shanghai and, finally, Hong Kong. Mr Payne said that after disembarking in Papeete, Tahiti, he could not believe he had actually set foot on the South Pacific island. "I didn't even know exactly where Tahiti was. To actually be there really took me aback. I thought I could achieve anything from now on," said Mr Payne, a finance student at the University of Hong Kong.

The abbey was airy and calm, the long aisle leading to the altar lined

The Metropolitan Police estimated the crowd peaked at one million along the route, with around 500,000 people in and around The Mall trying to catch a glimpse of the couple'skiss.Maid of honor Pippa Middleton wore a simple column dress and naturally styled hair, while best man Prince Harry was dressed in formal military attire. The flower girls, in cream dresses with full skirts and flowers in their hair, walked hand-in-hand with Pippa.

The abbey was airy and calm, the long aisle leading to the altar lined with maple and hornbeam trees as light streamed in through the high arched windows. The soft green trees framed the couple against the red carpet as they walked down the aisle, having recited their vows without stumbling before Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams.
The couple smiled broadly as they were driven to Buckingham Palace in the open-topped State Landau.

The palace was holding two parties, one hosted by the queen for 650 guests, and an evening dinner dance for 300 close friends. The queen and her husband had promised to go away for the evening, leaving the younger royals to party the night away - and Harry to make his best man's speech away from his grandparents' ears.

SHANGHAI - More than 30 percent of the 158 cases of drug smuggling handled by Shanghai No 1 Intermediate People's Court since 2009 involved foreign defendants, according to the court. Many of the defendants involved in smuggling drugs were from Southeast Asia, South Asia and Eastern Europe and were impoverished, the court added.A large number of defendants had been paid to bring drugs into China by air, so-called mules, and were intercepted by customs officers as they arrived at Shanghai's airports.

Among them, a Vietnamese woman named Lam Thi Kim Dong was found carrying 204 bags of white powder hidden in the buttons of four dresses in her luggage when she arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport in May 2009. She had flown in from Ho Chi Minh City. The 582.9 grams of powder was later identified as containing 48.63 percent heroin by Shanghai Drug Test Center.

The woman defended herself in court, saying she did not know that the powder was heroin. She said people paid her $250 and covered other expenses and asked her to bring the dresses into the country. She said she tried to smuggle in the items because she needed the money. The court sentenced her to 15 years in prison, confiscated 30,000 yuan ($4,630) and ordered her to be deported.

James said his trash talked directed at the Cavs' bench was in fun. "For me, it was," he said. "It was fun to have an opportunity to go against them."
With security guards forming a human barricade to line his entrance, James came hopping out of the tunnel and into the electrically charged atmosphere inside Quicken Loans Arena, as more than 20,000 fans, the same ones who once adored him, homecoming their fury on James.

It was rowdy, but thankfully, not violent. There were a few minor incidents in the stands. Just in case, Moondog, the Cavs' fuzzy mascot, wore a bulletproof vest.
Booed every time he touched the ball, James scored 14 points in the first half as the Heat opened a 59-40 lead, and threatened to turn the highly-anticipated game into a blowout.James quickly made certain of one.

Miami outscored Cleveland 36-25 in the third to open a 95-65 lead, prompting Heat coach Erik Spoelstra to pull his superstar. James spent the final 12 minutes as a spectator, glancing at the scoreboard and into the stands at so many familiar faces. James remained defiant afterward, saying he didn't regret his decision to leave Cleveland."I don't want to apologize," he said. "I think my intentions were not to hurt anyone.

Vibram Five Fingers Women

June 16, 2011 por tiffanybangles12   Comentarios (0)

But, I ask, is there something calculated Vibram Five Fingers Women the collection itself in a way that the Ralph Lauren brand is calculated, along the axis of otherworldly, mega-wealth aspiration? The exhibit is so fundamentally great, so full of obvious reference standards -- Ferrari 250 GTO, Alfa 8C2900 B Mille Miglia, McLaren F1 LM -- that it comprises a Men's Vibram Five fingers Men's KSO Grey White of greatest hits of automobility, the most bankable and unquestionable classic cars on earth, the Bach, Beethoven and Brahms of horsepower.

The canon, in other words. This assortment of cars would seem to be of a piece with the Ralph Lauren ethos, engaging notions of timeless luxury, Women's Vibram Five Fingers KSO Blue Gray standards and transcendent quality. And because not infrequently Mr. Lauren's great cars -- notably the Atlantic and the "Count Trossi" SSK -- have appeared in advertisements with himself as a model, further blurring the line between man and brand. Yes, sir, Mr. Lauren! His car-buying imprimatur means a lot.

He notes that the museum curated the exhibit and picked the cars it wanted: Mr. Lauren's rather more eclectic group of cars, the Morgans, Women's Vibram Five Fingers KSO Camo Light Blue Gray Jeeps, the 1948 Ford Woodie, the Porsche 959, they're still back in Westchester County in his garage/gallery. Actually, Mr. Lauren says, outside of the Atlantic, the cars he's most emotionally attached to are fairly run-of-the-mill classics, including the Jaguar XK120 and the Gullwing.
